Hi Pat Murphy!

Your book is one of the best books i've read in a long time. I had gone on a 3 week session to a college for writing lessons too. My teacher was just like Verla. There was so much I learned from that session. My teacher taught me how to step into someone else's shoes and become that person. I feel like I could step into Newt's shoes. I am almost exactly like her except i don't have an older brother.

By the way if my house got hit by a meteor the 1 thing i would take with me is my notebook/and or my leather jacket. I love them both so much. I guess whichever one i can get first.

Hey, Pat Murphy, Verla Volante, Fox, and Newt,

I am the girl who catches dreams. I just wanted to tell each of you something special. Ms. Murphy, your book made me cry. In a good way. I hadn't read such a good book in a looong time. And that's saying something, because I finish a new book every day. Verla, your writing tips are so awesome that I'm going to use them when I'm all grown up and teach creative writing to middle schoolers. Don't worry, I'll give you credit. :P Fox, you are one of the best storytellers I've ever heard. I love your short stories. Finally, to Newt: You are so brave, it's wild. You make ME, a shy, quiet reader, want to be a Wild Girl. (And a member of the Sisterhood of the Crystal Teardrop!)

I will recommend this book to my best friend, whose parents are going through tough times right now. I'm sure it will inspire her, like it did to me.

Love and hugs,

The Dreamcatcher

The Wild Girls- this is one of my favorite books! I love reading, and when I grow up, I plan to be an author. This book gave me so many great ideas about writing, and I know I will use them in some of my upcoming stories. I love Fox and Newt- they remind me of me and my best friend.

P.S. You probably already realized, I used my alias, Climb, because I love to climb trees and everything else.

Hey! I am a big fan of The Wild Girls, of course, and that is why I feel honored to sign this guestbook. I am currently 13 and I am a writer myself. I write books about Animal Fantasy and some about Science Fiction. I also write poetry about nature. Well, I just wanted to drop by and say "Hi". Always keep writing, Pat Murphy!

P.S. The name I used on here is just my alias, not my real name. :)

Hey! I absolutely loved your book! It was the best book I've read in a long long time. When I got to the last chapter I had to put it down because i didn't want it to be over. I read some other comments that said that you had another book coming out and i can't wait. What's your favourite colour?

Hey Pat, I know you know me but I was checking out your website and thought that it seemed kind of magical, like the feeling The Wild Girls gives me when I read it. I did the writing excercise about the monster (great idea, by the way). Good luck with your new book about Joan and Fox, I can't wait!

Hello Pat Murphy!! I know im being sorta cheesy by using the name Wolf (i stole the idea from your book if you don't mind!) but i feel more comfortable with it. Your book gave me more insight on what i write, and more depth and understanding when i watch my older brother and my mom fight. "find the subtext" is what Verla said. and that helps a lot.

I aspire to become a great writer like you someday, i have already started a lot of books myself. (one is inspired from Wild Girls, its called "A swish of Ballerina".)

i was wondering if it didnt take up a lot of your time, if you would read what i have written so far for "A swish of Ballerina", and maybe give me some advice.

I love your books, and i am a wild girl at heart,

Wolf

Hey! I loved your book. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I think not only is it a book about writing, but about the struggles of family and friends and how no matter how far gone things seem, they can always the brought back the default, which is love. I completely relate to Joan in the book, because my parents fight a lot. You're book actually inspired me to talk to my mom about how we weren't close and we really improved our relationship. Thank you soo much! You've not only helped me in my writing, but in the real world as well. I can never thank you enough for that.

Love your book, and can't wait for another one!

Hey! I just dropped by after scanning over the copy of Wild Girls that I bought at my school's book fair. It's so funny - when I was reading the book, I remember thinking, "Wow, I wish Verla was real. If only, if only."

Then I saw www.verlavolante.com typed on the inside of the back cover. I almost hyperventilated, I was so excited.

That was about ten minutes ago. I'm really excited to start writing again (I've stopped for a bit due to homework. Ugh.), since my stories are probably feeling very neglected. I got a new idea for a story recently, probably thanks to the Wild Girls and good ol' Verla, and now I'm itching to get it typed up.

Thank you so much for writing this book, Ms. Murphy. I have no doubt that you've awakened (or re-awoken - is that a word? Hahaha!) numerous thirteen-year-old writers like me across the country. Thanks again! :D

HEY! Love the book, have read about three times. Your website could use a boost. Try some other writing adventures, longer ones like write something that's true or one of my own and personal faves: Write about yourself from another person's point of view. Some more design and color/features would really add some flare to the site. Otherwise, HEART it! (Sorry to be a critic, I know I fear being criticized too, but I'm not a pro, just opinionated!)
