| My school writing teacher gives a lot of the same advice as Verla did. I even recently watched a 40 minute long interview with one of my favorite authors, Christopher Paolini, who wrote the Inheritance Cycle, and in that interview, he gave some advice to young authors which was very similar to Verla's too. I, in my writing, find all of these guidelines to be very true. And I have decided to make more effort to ask questions.. |

I just invented an alias for myself: Cai F. Mendelssohn. Cai means colorful in Chinese. F. Mendelssohn stands for Fanny Mendelssohn, the lesser-known but equally talented sister of the great composer Felix Mendelssohn. I love music, and want to be a professional violist when I am older. I also included this in my name because I have a lot of respect for Fanny Mendelssohn. She didn't let other people, especially men, get in the way of her composing. Back then, it was considered inappropriate for women to compose and publish music, and her own father even told her that "music will perhaps become Felix's profession, while for you it can and must only be an ornament."
Do you like it? |

| I love the characters in your books! Especially Verla, Fox, Bodie, Gus, and Zoom. And I also do like Joan's dad. I have a question: How would you come up with an alias for yourself? |

| I love the idea of an alias! Even before I read this book, my best friends and I would call each other the elements we most perfered -I, being Sky- and we would run around fighting imaginary battles. I miss those days and I hope that by showing them this book we might fight Darkness once more. |

I loved the wild girls so much that people now call me Turtle as my alias!!! Pat, you should come out with a second wild girls book; I'm sure that all the wild girls out there with greatly appreciate it!
P.S. I am a turtle because of my inquisitive need of curiosity when I'm all alone in the woods ;) |

Wild Girls is a fantastic coming-of-age story that every aspiring female writer should read. My best friend and I have always been writing and her mother picked the book up because she said it reminded her of us. We're both going into our Sophomore year of college, which just goes to show that great writing can transcend age groups. This book inspired me not to be afraid of being myself and focus seriously on writing.
If you're a young aspiring writer, Wild Girls is a book for you, no matter what your age.

| Noticing other wild girls had entered their names as animals they were like, I decided to also. I have always been like a fox, sneaking around and preferring the dark. But your description of Fox in the book defines me a bit more closely. If I could be out in the woods all the time I would and I don't enjoy school or wearing dresses. But I do enjoy throwing things at people :) |

i just read down the list of comments and saw how many girls entered themselves with wild girl names. i decided to find my own, and it's Heron.
last spring, i saw a heron at the beach and we sat, and contemplated each other for a while. people passing by stared and one woman said, "she's talking to it," with a perfectly serious voice, to her husband.
thats how i became the Heron. |

| I just finished reading "The Wild Girls", and I loved it so much! This book is one of the best books i have ever read! The writing tips are amazing! They have worked well with the writing i have been doing. I write all the time. What i write makes a whole other universe for me. Anything can happen in that universe. Sometimes that universe is better than this one. But sometimes i write when im mad so there is some natural disaster. The wild Girls is amazing. I am definantely going to read this book again. |

I also love the relatioship Fox(Sarah) has with Gus.They are like equals, one not superior to another.
