I bought "The Wild Girls" at my book fair at middle school. I have to admit that I bought it on a dare. You see, like Joan, there are girls at my school who are into make-up and guys. That is just not me. I would rather lose myself in stories than spend all day gushing over guys.

Anyway, the dare was first purpose by one of the main cheerleaders at my school who told me to buy "that gross-looking tomboy book on the shelf." I took the dare because I wanted to prove her wrong and I did. Ms. Murphy, the book was the best I have read in sometime that was for kids of my age. I will highly recommend you to all of my fellow readers. (The few that there are, anyway)

P.S. I wish to be a writer one day. Like you.

I absolutely loved your book. In fact, I have read it at least 10 times so far! I can really relate to both main characters in the book as well. Thanks so much and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

This was an amazing book. This book taught me the same lessons it taught Newt. Thankyou. I am now going to write a story about my own wild girls. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you, Valerie, for your enthusiastic support for another book about Joan and Fox! I am working on another one, but it won't be done for a while, I'm afraid. But comments like yours are lighting a fire under me to write faster.

I love your book! It taught me so much about how to write and how to live that I neatly wrote out all of Verla's sayings and put it up in my bedroom so I could look at. I'm aspiring to be a writer when I grow up- this has helped me so much. You're a divine writer, Pat. Maybe one day I'll dedicate one to you- and Verla, of course. ;D

And I forgot to add - it takes a wild girl to ask the next question. It means being true to your curious and most passionate self, but it goes against what you were taught about being polite.

I just read Wild Girls and I liked so much that I bought 2 more copies. One for my sister and one for my magical auntie.

Thanks for the nudge, River! I've added one more writing exercise and I'll add another tomorrow. I just started work on the next book about Joan and Fox and I got a little distracted. Sorry about that. I appreciate your diligence in searching for exercises.

I really loved this book! It was one of those books so good I cried when it was over. All the writing assignments Verla gave Fox and Joan really helped me find myself. They explained to me what I was feeling because I wasn't sure; how to relate to my problems. I loved the book and it's the kind of writing I want to do when I get older!

I LOVE The Wild Girls!! It's really cool! Fox is my favorite character, but I think I'm more like Joan. But my parents don't argue and I've always wanted to be a writer. I think Verla is really cool too!I love all the tips in the book!

I loved this book. I really liked that it dealt with issues that kids face, while teaching them a valuable coping skill. Writing really is an outlet for so many problems. I appreciate the fact that I can recommend this book to students without warning them about 'strong' language. How refreshing! Keep writing!

OMG, that book was awesome. I (also) bought it at the book fair, and I was sooo happy when I found all those amazing writing tips. I've been trying to write a story for years (I'm 12 years old now and have finally realized that maybe I should learn a bit more about WRITING first), and this makes me want to write one even more.

I'm a writer and a teacher. The Wild Girls is an amazing novel. I love that it is not predictable, and that there are so many layers. It's a complex story that is not complicated. I cannot wait to add this novel to the class list.

This book is amazing, I've always loved writing and this book really helps me. I love stories like this, they make me happy, yet sad, simply becuase they have to end. I think I'll make up more of the story in my own head, I'll probably even write it down.

WOWOWOWOW! Okay, so i bought the Wild Girls at the school book fair because I thought it has a cool cover. But then when I started it, I seriously couldn't stop reading it! IT WAS AMAZING. If I could, I'd frame it :) Now, I'm thinking of writing a book, thanks for all the helpful tips in the book!

Just finished The Wild Girls, and loved it. I'm a school librarian, and am adding it to our collection! Thank you for such a wonderful book.
